Trust Cop

Trust Cop is the latest rogue antispyware application, causing only problems to any system it has infiltrated.
Trust Cop is a replica of the following family of rogue applications: Secure Warrior, Secure Fighter, Security Fighter, Safety Keeper, Save Keeper, Save Defense, Save Keep, Winishield, and Wini Fighter.

Trust Cop will attempt to charge the system’s user a fixed amount in order to sort out the problems on the PC – this is a scam which should definitely not be trusted.

Trust Cop may cause the following basic symptoms, which a computer user should look out for:
• Slow computer performance:
It just takes one parasite like Trust Cop to slow down a computer dramatically. If your PC takes longer than usual to reboot, or if your Internet connection is unusually slow, you may be infected with XP Deluxe Protector.
• New desktop shortcuts or switched homepage:
Badware like Trust Cop may change your Internet settings to redirect your homepage to another website. Badware can even add desktop shortcuts to your PC. It is also not uncommon for this type of malware to change legitimate websites, such as www.google.com, and use them to further create the illusion that your system is I danger – by adding aggressive advertising to the homepage you will be directed to.
• Annoying pop-up messages:
Badware can bombard your computer with popup ads, even when you’re not online. Through these pop-up messages, you may be tricked into downloading more spyware.

Trust Cop is considered a rogue anti-spyware application for a number of reasons, a few being that Trust Cop tends to display the following tactics:

• False positives/fake alerts:
As a rogue anti-spyware, Trust Cop may produce a large number of false positives or use fake alerts, noting that your computer is infected with spyware parasites or other threats that do not really exist.

• Copycat looks:
Rogue anti-spyware may copy the look and feel of other legitimate or rogue anti-spyware applications. Often, rogue anti-spyware applications may appear as close clones of other rogue anti-spyware software. (in this case, Trust Cop is a replica of Secure Warrior, Secure Fighter, Security Fighter, Safety Keeper, Save Keeper, Save Defense, WiniBlueSoft, WinBlueSoft and Wini Fighter.)

• High pressure marketing:
Rogue anti-spyware may use scare tactics or other aggressive advertising and marketing tactics to try to trick you into buying the rogue anti-spyware application. Often, rogue anti-spyware may produce false positives and fake alerts about your computer being infected.

• Poor detection/scan reporting:
Rogue anti-spyware may produce poor reports when it scans your PC. For example, rogue anti-spyware may say your computer is infected 11 parasites, but not specify which spyware parasites or what type of parasites. Rogue anti-spyware may also report that your PC is infected with SafeAndClean, but not tell you which related files; DLLS, etc. were found on your computer.

• Weak scanning/detection:
Rogue anti-spyware may not only poorly report on computer infection, but rogue antispyware may also poorly scan your PC. Rogue anti-spyware may skip over important folders and files of your computer that should be scanned to detect spyware.

Trust Cop is sneaky, and may hide itself within registry files on an infected system, therefore there are a few sure ways to tell whether your system may be in jeopardy of infection.

One will need to remove Trust Cop from the infected computer system, as soon as it has been detected. The thing about Trust Cop, and many rogue anti-virus applications, is that fact that it is extremely difficult to delete from an infected system.

Manual removal is probably your best bet at maintaining the integrity of your computer, but manual removal should only be tried by those individuals that know a bit about registry files, and should be left to the individual who knows how to navigate their way around system files.

All in all though, I would recommend, especially if you are not completely tech savvy, one should make use of a reliable and legitimate, fully functional, up-to-date anti-spyware application, to remove Trust Cop and all its components from the infected computer system.
