Anti-Virus-1

Anti-Virus-1 (Anti Virus 1, AntiVirus1) is the latest rogue antispyware application (in other words: a fake spyware remover). Anti-Virus-1 endeavours to trick and force computer users into purchasing its licensed version by making use of intimidation tactics via fake threats. Anti-Virus-1 will infiltrate a computer system by using Trojans, i.e. Zlob or Vundo. Anti-Virus-1 can also enter a system by way of a manual download or via manual installation. Once inside and activated, Anti-Virus-1 will bombard the user with pop-up messages and fake system notifications, supposedly to inform the user of multiple threats present on their computer system. Anti-Virus-1 will try to reassure its claim by providing falsified system scan reports. These scan results should not be trusted. Anti-Virus-1 is also likely to hijack the user’s browser (homepage, searches), and redirect the user to various sites of dubious nature. The ultimate goal of Anti-Virus-1 is to get the user to purchase the “licensed version”. If you come across Anti-Virus-1, do NOT download or purchase it and you should instead block Anti-Virus-1 homepage by making use of your HOSTS file. Anti-Virus-1 program may be difficult to remove manually and will continue to try and recreate itself. Delete Anti-Virus-1 as soon as possible.
