HDD OK

Due to all the sophistication and effort which goes into the development and marketing of rogue system optimizers, it can be difficult even for the most experienced users not to fall victim to these criminals. HDD OK is a perfect example of the great technological strides rogues have made, and its vitriolic attack on its victims’ PCs attest to its determination to realize its goal no matter what the stakes to any party involved. HDD OK derives from the same despicable family of rogue defragmenters as My Disk and Memory Fixer, but its determination should at no point be underestimated.

HDD OK will enter the system without its victim even realizing it. This rogue rides on the back of other legitimate security updates and software downloads obtained from third party websites, and does not declare its presence to the PC owner. Another popular route of infection for HDD OK is by making use of browser hijacking web domains which forcefully redirects and infects users’ PCs. When the user lands on the home pages of these browser hijackers, their system and browser vulnerabilities are exploited in order for these sites to successfully root the HDD OK infection in the PC.

The user will mostly remain unwise about the presence of HDD OK on his system until the rogue decides to reveal itself to the PC owner through fake security messages. These bogus security notifications were designed expressly to create panic among HDD OK’s victims, as well as to place the rogue in a favorable and authoritative state with the user. These are all fake notifications, and should not enjoy any attention. Some of the more notorious fake security alerts distributed by HDD OK read as follows:

"Windows detected a hard drive problem.
A hard drive error occurred while starting the application."

"Windows Disk Diagnostics
Windows detected a hard disk error"

"A problem with the hard drive sectors has been detected. It is recommended to download the following certified software to fix the detected hard drive problems. Do you want to download recommended software?"

HDD OK will also display fake pop up messages which will proclaim that the user’s private data is at risk. These fake warnings read as follows:

"Activation Reminder
My Disk Activation
Advanced module activation required to fix detected errors and performance issues. Please purchase Advanced Module license to activate this software and enable all features."

"Low Disk Space
You are running very low disk space on Local Disk (C:)"

"Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message 0x0000013"

Quite obviously none of these fake alerts can be trusted, and users should accept all correspondence received from HDD OK as highly suspect. Do not act on any of the contained calls to action contained in these fake alerts, as it will only serve to make HDD OK’s campaign of extortion against the system easier to execute.

Users who did not delete HDD OK in time complained about having their Internet connections blocked, as well as being unable to launch any programs on their systems. This is not done by accident, as HDD OK wants to effectively prevent the user from downloading or running any program which could not only detect but remove HDD OK from the system completely. Other symptoms of an HDD OK infection include increased erratic system behavior and poor system performance. In order to "unlock" HDD OK on the system and regain control of your PC in order to connect to the Internet and run programs again, enter the following security key:

0973467457475070215340537432225

Don’t think all your troubles are finished after entering this security key, as you still need to obliterate HDD OK from the system in order to prevent permanent damage from occurring. By entering this security code you are simply disabling the symptoms of the HDD OK infection, but the threat is still very real and palpable.

Do not fall victim to the extortion measures employed by these cyber criminals. Never pay for any HDD OK product, and if you find yourself constantly redirected to an online payment portal for HDD OK, run a trusted security tool which will not only erase HDD OK from the PC, but also offer up to the minute protection against future similar attacks and viruses.
